The price of genuine Epson S21 ink cartridges is on average about 25% less than the original purchase price of the printer itself and this leaves a lot of people rather disappointed because the S21 reveals itself to be less of a bargain than it first appeared. Printer ink cartridges for the S21 consist of four individual ink tanks, one for each colour and this means you only need to change the colour cartridges that is empty and not the whole lot like the old tri-colour printer cartridges. Although the ink cartridges for the S21 seem expensive compared to the cost of the printer, the S21 is no more expensive to run than any other inkjet printer it just costs less to buy and that makes people think that it will cost less to run. In terms of printing performance the S21 is nothing to write home about but it also has very little to complain about. Designed to be a basic everyday printer the S21 is exactly that, it doesn’t have any fancy features like wireless printing for memory card reader etc it just prints and it does this quite well, even being able to print photos to standard behind most people’s expectations of a budget inkjet printer. The printer is well designed and looks rather good with its black finish, it compact too measuring just 435 x 219 x 165 (mm) so should fit on even the most cluttered of desks. Overall The Stylus S21 is a good printer but not a great one, but who would expect one at this price?
